How to Care for Your Swimsuit
The short version: rinse in cool fresh water after every swim, hand wash with a mild detergent, press out the water in a towel, and dry flat in the shade. Chlorine, sun, heat and rough surfaces are what wear swimwear out; a few minutes of care after each swim keeps a suit’s shape and colour for much longer.
After every swim
- Rinse the suit in cool fresh water as soon as you can, inside and out. This removes chlorine, salt and sunscreen before they sit in the fabric.
- Don’t leave a wet suit rolled up in a bag or towel for hours.
Washing
- Hand wash in cool water with a small amount of mild detergent. Keep water below 40°C.
- No bleach, no fabric softener, no washing machine and no tumble dryer.
- If your suit has removable cups, take them out and wash them separately.
Drying
- Don’t wring or twist the suit. Roll it in a towel and press gently to remove water.
- Lay it flat to dry in the shade. Direct sun and radiators fade colour and weaken LYCRA® elastane.
- Don’t iron.
While you wear it
- Let sunscreen and body oils absorb before you put the suit on; they can mark light colours.
- Pool edges, rocks and wooden decks can snag the fabric. Sit on a towel.
- Hot tubs are hard on swimwear: the heat and chemicals break down elastane faster than a pool does.
- If you swim often, rotating two suits gives each one time to recover its shape.
What our fabric is made of
Our 2026 swimsuits are made from 80% nylon and 20% LYCRA® elastane, from a bluesign®-certified fabric factory. The fabric resists chlorine and salt water, and LYCRA® helps it keep its shape wear after wear.
